Old Main (Enlarged)

The original Old Main opened in 1871 and was added to many times during its history. Some of the major additions were: a north wing added in 1878, a south wing added in 1883, and a rear chapel added in 1886. After the last addition was made to the building in 1911 the building extended 256 feet along High Street and 175 feet westward into the campus in the area now known as the Quad. Shown on the shelf are: a copy of the invitation to the 1878 Corner Stone Laying ceremonies and views of a women's dorm room, a men's dorm room, the High Street facade of Old Main with the North Wing, and the Principal's Reception Room in Old Main.
